About NMMS Scholarship 2024-25

Applications for the National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme 2024-25 are now available. This MHRD project schemes Rs. 12,000 per year to meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in Class 9 at government schools. If you are new, apply via the NSP site (https://scholarships.gov.in/) before August 31st, following the OTR method. Every year, one lakh fresh scholarships are offered to choose Class 9 students and renewed for Classes 10 through 12 to study at State Government, Government-aided, and local body schools. The NMMSS program is offered through the National Scholarship Portal.

Eligibility Criteria for NMMS Scholarship 2024-25

Before applying for the NMMS Scholarship, make sure you fulfill all the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

Application Process of NMMS Scholarship 2024-25

If you are willing to apply for the NMMS Scholarship, follow the steps below for the application process.

  • Existing users can log in to the NSP site using their login information.
  • New users must register through the OTR process.
  • After successfully registering, students will locate the NMMSS 2024-25 application form in the “Fresh Scholarship” area.
  • Carefully fill out the application form, ensuring that all information is correct and complete.
  • Upload scanned copies of all required papers, including mark sheets, income certificates, caste certificates (if applicable), and Aadhaar cards.
  • Submit the application electronically by the deadline.

Instructions for Applicants with the OTR number

In the school year 2023-24, the NSP implemented an optional face-authentication service. Students who finished the face-authentication process were assigned an OTR number, which they received via SMS on their registered cellphone numbers. These students can apply directly for scholarships through the NSP portal. If a student does not get their OTR number by SMS, they can retrieve it through the NSP’s “Know your OTR” option.

Instructions for Applicants with Reference Number

Students who passed the OTP-based eKYC but did not complete face-authentication during the academic year 2023-24 were granted a reference number. To acquire their OTR number, applicants need to go through the face-authentication process on the NSP portal.

Steps for Generating the OTR Number

Follow the steps below to generate the OTR number.

  • Download and install the Aadhaar Face RD services on your Android device.
  • Download and install the NSP OTR app from the Google Play Store.
  • Open the mobile app and select the “eKYC with FaceAuth” option, which is indicated in red.

Selection Process for NMMS Scholarship

Beneficiaries are shortlisted and selected depending on their merit and income. The state education departments carry out the selection process by the rules established by the MHRD.
