In the budget year 2023–2024, Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister Shri MK Stalin stated that his administration would start a financial assistance program for state women. Nearly 1 million women in Tamil Nadu will benefit from the State Government’s Universal Basic Income Program thanks to the Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme, which was recently introduced by the government of Tamil Nadu. The scheme which will provide assistance of Rs. 1000 per month, has been given a budget of Rs. 7000 Crore by the Tamil Nadu government. On the anniversary of the late Chief Minister C.N. 15th Sept Update:- Tamil Nadu CM Stalin Launched Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme
On September 15, CM MK Stalin launched a Rs1,000 monthly cash aid program for women in honour of Dravidian leader C N Annadurai. Stalin announced the plan, claiming it was a reward for the hard labour of women, and issued bank debit cards to a number of the recipients. State ministers then implemented the program in their respective districts. It is an expression of pride that the program is being introduced on Anna’s birthday and during Karunanidhi’s centennial (2023–2024). The state government designated the basic income project, which is named for the late chief minister M. Karunanidhi, the right of women.
11th Sept Update:- 1.06 crore eligible women beneficiaries to get scheme benefits from September 15
On September 15, the birth anniversary of former CM C.N. Annadurai, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is scheduled to introduce the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai (women’s basic income) scheme at Kancheepuram. The Tamil Nadu government has identified 1.06 crore women as eligible to benefit from it. According to Mr. Stalin, eligible ladies will start receiving the money in their bank accounts on September 15. Following that, each month the money will be credited to the bank accounts of these qualified ladies.
Initially, ATM cards would be distributed in a set number and would need to be distributed to everyone. In contrast, all people chosen for the program would receive the urimai thogai [immediately] rather than having to wait for the ATM cards. On September 15, the Chief Minister will send an SMS on their behalf to the recipients with information about how to resolve any potential problems. Those who applied for the program but were not selected to participate in it would be informed of the reason why.
