What is GPRA ?

GPRA is a central government program that distributes inexpensive housing units to qualified central government employees. It is overseen by the Delhi-based Directorate of Estates (DoE) administration. The Allotment of Government Residences Rules, 1963, contain severe guidelines that must be adhered to to complete an allotment. Delhi and the other cities that will be covered later are subject to these regulations.  Under e-Awas, the allocation of housing units for a certain kind of housing is done using a Unified Waiting List. The Housing Ministry has opened the e-Sampada online platform for those who would like to apply for the GPRA plan. Previously, the e-Awas web platform was used to make these accommodations’ allotments. You must meet the eligibility requirements to take advantage of this provision.

General Pool Residential Accommodation Objective

The goal of the GPRA program is to offer central government employees affordable accommodation via the e-Sampada web platform. Employees of the central government who are moved or relocated to different cities sometimes struggle to find housing. Frequently, individuals are unable to locate reasonably priced homes within their financial means. The government launched the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) initiative to provide reasonably priced housing for those employed by the Central Government of India or the NCT of Delhi.

Benefits of GPRA

Some of the key benefits of the GPRA are as follows:

  • Citizens can access a wide range of services through the Esampada portal, including office, market, and government residential accommodations, as well as bookings for events, vacation houses, and hostels for visiting officers.
  • Every applicant on the Esampada site has a customized dashboard with access to a range of services, such as application status updates and cell number updates
  • Clear and open, Esampada reduces paperwork, administrative expenses, and time.
  • The Esampada platform allows applicants to upload papers and file grievances.

Significance of GPRA

Temporarily relocating to new cities, central government employees are having difficulty finding affordable housing. To address this issue, the Indian Central government introduced the GRPA plan. Eligible workers can apply for housing under this program. Based on their eligibility and available spaces, the program assists them in being put in their pool of accommodations. Workers who meet the requirements might request temporary accommodation. Through the internet portal GPRA e-Awas, the directorate assigns accommodations. The e-Sampada portal, however, has since taken the place of this one. The Union Ministry designed the platform to make the GPRA application procedure simpler.
