Various BCCI Test Cricket Incentive Scheme slabs

A player can make more money than the match fees if he plays for the Indian men’s cricket team in more than half of the Test matches during a season, according to the Test Cricket Incentive Scheme. There are three slabs in the Test Cricket Incentive Scheme.

  • Players playing less than 50 percent matches: Players who participate in less than 50% of the Tests over a season are placed in the first slab. In that scenario, their only income would be the match fees.
  • Players participating in more than 50% but less than 75% matches: A player is eligible to get an incentive payment of Rs 30 Lakhs per match if he plays in more than 50% but fewer than 75% of the Test matches during a season. As a result, the player’s match fees would ultimately total Rs 45 Lakh.
  • Players participating in more than 75% of matches: This is the most profitable bracket; a player who participates in more than 75% of the Test matches during a season gets awarded Rs 45 Lakh, meaning that his match fees come to Rs 60 Lakh. A player would earn Rs 6 crore in such a scenario, which is equivalent to a mid-range IPL contract if he played 10 Tests in a year.
